Joel Begin, the owner of Begin Wellness and founder of Reflective Movement, resides in Henniker, NH and is currently in the process of completing his Doctorate of Physical Therapy. Joel has been involved in the arts and health and wellness field for the last 10 years as a musician, landscaper, carpenter, EMT, wellness consultant, strength and conditioning coordinator, and an advanced health and fitness specialist. He credits much of his personal development and interest in wellness to his experiences growing up with chronic pain and the people that helped him look beyond the mere physical boundaries of the human body. His determination to understand his symptoms plus find relief through use of a more multidisciplinary approach to medicine eventually lead him to put his music dreams on hold and develop a holistic model that was more suitable for helping him heal the way his body needed to heal.
Within his research, Joel quickly became intrigued with the vast interconnectedness that he observed within the various healing disciplines, his own body, and pain. As he began to view these relationships closer, Joel began to question the possible role that “pain” could play not just for survival and protective purposes, but for individual growth and development as well. He sought after and learned from others with similar experiences dealing with chronic pain and began exploring the different areas of research, wellness, and healing resources that were available to him. Joel began to wonder how he could combine the art of healing with the sciences of medicine. As Joel strategically tried to identify and correct the missing elements of his body he had been living without for quite some time, he began to notice an intelligent and healing language that began to unfold in front of his eyes in the form of movement. He called this language Reflective Movement.
Joel’s desire to help others search to uncover the hidden voice that exists behind their pain continues to be one of Joel’s biggest motivating factors in his work and research. His interest in developing a new type of wellness model that facilitates a new and positive perception on how one can reflect upon their body and condition that encourages true healing is the intention that sits at the heart of Begin Wellness.

Begin Wellness was established in the summer of 2009 with the purpose of improving the quality of life for all members of the community including special populations. Our area of focus is in providing personalized wellness services to individuals and families who live and struggle with chronic pain and/or other numerous medical conditions including autoimmune diseases and terminal illness processes. We also provide educational resources for professional and personal use that offer available information on evidence based research, self-healing practice, and new-age exploratory practices related to health and wellness.
Through our extensive involvement with assisting clients in overcoming their wellness challenges over the years, we have observed that if there is a will, there is always a way worth exploring together that promises a positive experience. Together, we are proud to be one of the many organizations able to present a new health and wellness model that addresses preventative wellness, maintenance care, chronic conditions, and terminal disease challenges all under one roof.
